Nigeria’s table tennis player, Aruna Quadri, yesterday made history as he became the first African to ever get to the quarterfinals of the table tennis game in any Olympic games. Aruna beat Germany’s Timo Boll 4-2 in men’s single table tennis match at the ongoing Rio, Brazil Olympic. 28 year old Aruna will play against Ma Long in the quarterfinals next week Tuesday August 16th.

Aruna last year also made history as the first African to win International Tennis player of the year award at a ceremony held in Dubai.

Ray J is reportedly under Secret Service investigation for trying to DM Malia Obama

Huh? According to multiple online reports, Ray J is being investigated by US Secret Service for allegedly trying to reach out to First Daughter Malia Obama via instagram DM, just weeks after she turned 18 years old. Here is what is being reported online:

Drake books entire Aquarium for Rihanna

According to reports, Drake rented an entire aquarium for dinner with Rihanna following last weeks OVO Music festival.The reports claims this happened on Sunday night in Toronto,and that Drake booked out the entire Ripley's Aquarium after midnight and had them set a fancy dinner right in front of the glass.

The couple, whose romance have been heating up in the last few weeks.were said to have stayed until just before dawn.

Oil marketers plan to increase fuel price due to dollars shortage

Major oil marketers in Nigeria are considering increasing the pump price of petrol following the lingering scarcity of dollars and high exchange rate. According to the marketers, the exchange rate which went to as high as N400 to $1 last week, is seriously affecting them as they cannot continue to import fuel at such rate and sell at the Federal government stipulated price of N145 per liter. Many of them say if the N400 to $1 persists, they will be forced to increase the pump price.

The Federal government on May 11th liberalized the downstream sector of the petroleum industry and announced an increase in the pump prices of petrol from N86 and N86.50k per liter to between N145 per liter.

LAGOS STATE GOVT CLOSE MARINE BRIDGE/ROAD IN APAPA FOR REPAIR

The Lagos State Government has announced the closure of the Marine Bridge Road (Inward Ijora) preparatory to the commencement of repair works by the contractors of the Federal Ministry of Works. A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transport, Dayo Mobereola, states that the emergency and immediate closure is to also allow the Federal Ministry carryout studies to determine the state of the Bridge and effect appropriate repairs.
