Senate pledges to intervene in plans to increase cost of data
…As anger trails NCC directive to telcos to hike tariff
Nigerians have reacted angrily to the recent directive by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to telecom operators to increase the tariff for data services, with several of them calling on the National Assembly to intervene in the matter.
In reaction to the NCC directive, MTN has started sending out bulk messages to its subscribers alerting them of the planned increase. The text message read: “Dear customer, please be informed that from 1st Dec, some MTN data tariffs will be increased to reflect the new rates set by the NCC to operators. Thank you.”
Sources indicate that the new rate could see subscribers of MTN, GLO, AIRTEL & Etisalat paying as much as N1000 for 500 megabytes instead of the 1 gigabyte, 1.5 gigabytes or 2 gigabytes they currently get, depending on the network.

Pope Francis grant all catholic priests power to forgive abortion
Pope Francis, who is the 266th and current Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, has granted all priests the power to forgive abortion, a right previously reserved for bishops in most parts of the world. He said:
‘I henceforth grant to all priests, in virtue of their ministry, the faculty to absolve those who have committed the sin of procured abortion.
The provision I had made in this regard, limited to the duration of the Extraordinary Holy Year, is hereby extended.’
The Argentine Pope made the announcement in a document known as an ‘apostolic letter’ after close of the Church’s ‘Holy Year of Mercy’ on Sunday, explaining that he wanted to restate as firmly as he can that abortion is a grave sin, since it puts an end to an innocent life but insisted that there was no sin God’s mercy cannot reach and wipe away when it finds a repentant heart seeking to be reconciled with God.
According to Independent report, the change would last for at least the rest of his papacy.

Don't vote for change- Fayose advises Ghanaians as they head to the polls on Dec.7th
Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, has advised Ghanaians not to vote for change as they head to the polls to vote for their next president on December 7th. In a statement released by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Fayose said Nigerians voted for change in 2015 and are currently in hunger, suffering and economic recession. He made the call when he played host to some men of God from Gahana at the state house in Ado-Ekiti. The statement in part reads
"By buying into the All Progressives Congress (APC) message of change, Nigerians are now facing a kind of hunger and suffering never experienced in the country in the last 30 years and Ghanaians must not fall into that kind of trap. Ghanaians should not succumb to the deceit of the opposition party that are calling for a change of government. Rather, they should return the incumbent President, John Mahama, who has no doubt done creditably well to deserve a re-election. Ghanaians should know that the change in Nigeria brought hunger, suffering, disregard for the rule of law as well as arrest and detention of Nigerians without trial and be mindful of those preaching change to them. Most importantly, the situation in Ghana at present is similar to that of Nigeria.

Ben Carson rules out serving in the Trump adminstration because he has no political experience
Retired neurosurgeon and former Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson who campaigned tirelessly for President-elect Donald Trump, has ruled out serving as part of Trump's administration, due to his lack of political experience, according to a report from The Hill.
The TV host Armstrong Williams, who is a close friend of Carson, told The Hill that Carson was not interested in serving the administration in any official capacity, although he would consider a more informal role of an advisor in all White House going ons.
Williams also denied reports that Carson had been offered a role, adding that “he was never offered a specific position.”
“Dr. Carson feels he has no government experience, he’s never run a federal agency. The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency,” he said.
Donald Trump himself had previously suggested that Carson would join his team, saying that he hoped that Carson “will be very much involved with my administration.”

Nigeria may face famine as from January 2017, Presidency warns
Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba yesterday warned that Nigeria could face famine in January if drastic steps are not taken now. Garba who gave the warning when he spoke at a radio station in kano yesterday, said Nigerian farmers are exporting most of their food products instead of making it readily available for consumption in Nigeria.
"Huge demand for our grains in the global market is creating an excellent environment for the mindless export of Nigerian grains across our borders and unless this is curtailed, Nigerian markets will be bereft of food by January next year. Over the past year, Providence has blessed Nigeria with a bountiful harvest of grains, more than enough to feed the country and to export to other countries. At present, there is a high demand for grains from Nigeria, from African countries as distant as Libya and Algeria, and from places as far away as Brazil. However, the ministry of agriculture has raised concerns about a massive rate of exportation, which could lead to a shortage of grains in Nigeria by January.
President Muhammadu Buhari is not in any way opposed to or intent on tampering with that. On the other hand, exporters also have a moral obligation to make their produce available to Nigerians who live within our country’s borders, to ensure that our citizens have access to food” he said. Garba said that the ministry of agriculture estimated that no fewer than 500 trucks laden with grain leave Nigerian markets every week, headed for countries outside Nigerian borders. “The major markets involved in this exportation are: the Dawanau market in Kano, Naigatari in Jigawa, Bama in Borno, and Ilela in Sokoto, as well as three other main markets in Kebbi State,” he said.
10 FOODS TO AVOID IF YOU HAVE JOINT PAIN
Joint pain interferes with your movement causing you discomfort, soreness and inflammation in your joints. Nowadays, many people experience joint pain, irrespectively of their gender or age. It can range from mild or severe, from acute to chronic pain.
Two main reasons for joint pain are gout and arthritis. Also, it is a result of dislocated or broken bones, muscle strains, lupus, leukemia, fibromyalgia or bursitis.
However, joint pain can be improved by proper medication, diet, alternative medicine and exercise. Although there many foods that fight joint pain like garlic, turmeric or ginger, there are many others that trigger the pain.
If you experience joint pain, you should avoid the following these 10 foods:
1. Processed and Red Meat
Both of them have chemicals including purines and nitrites which significantly increase the pain and inflammation in the body.
Processed foods are loaded with toxins so called advanced glycation end products (AGEs), that increase the inflammation in the body. According to a study from 2014, published in the Proceedings of the national Academy of Sciences, the red-meat glycan increases development of inflammation and progression of cancer.
3 OILS YOU HAVE AT HOME THAT CAN QUICKLY THICKEN AND GROW BACK EYEBROW HAIR
Many women are having problems with their eyebrows – they are sometimes too thick and might resist growing back once plucked. The eyebrows are similar to the hairs on our head – they are made of keratin and amino acids which keep them strong. However, if these strings of amino acids are broken, they also cause our hair follicles to break which results in hair loss.
Luckily, we have a few oils that will resolve the problem and regrow your hair.
Castor oil
Castor oil is great for eliminating dandruff. Dandruff affects your hair growth, and may be the reason for your eyebrows not growing back. The oil has numerous health benefits as well – it can treat anything from hair loss to muscle and joint pain. Here’s how to use it to treat eyebrow hair loss:
Clean your eyebrows with warm water, then dip a cotton swab in castor oil and apply it on your eyebrows. Massage it gently with your fingertips for 3 minutes, and leave it to work overnight. Repeat the process every night for 5-6 days and you will be amazed by the results.
ALWAYS DO THIS AFTER SEX
Urinary tract infections are the second most common type of infection in the body, resulting in more than 8 million visits to healthcare providers each year. With a shorter urethra that allows bacteria easier access to the bladder, if you’re a female, odds are you’ve had to deal with the symptoms of a urinary tract infection, or UTI, at least once.
If you’d like to avoid those terrible symptoms that include a burning sensation and the feeling that you’ve always got to go, urinating after sex is a must. That’s because sexual intercourse can irritate the urethra, and it’s believed to be one of the main factors that women who are sexually active are also more prone to these nasty infections.image
Urinating as soon as possible after sex helps to flush out any bacteria that may have been introduced to the body. Certain types of contraceptives can also increase the risk of an infection such as a diaphragm, which compresses the urethra, making it more difficult to empty the bladder, resulting in an abundance of bacteria developing. The use of spermicides can also trigger the growth of bacteria by disturbing the natural balance of the vagina.
TRY THIS AT HOME I BET YOUR TOILET IS GONNA START SMELLING NICE
If there is one chore that most people detest, it’s cleaning the toilet. However, as much as this housekeeping chore is disliked it is one of great importance as a dirty toilet can be a harbinger for diseases and infections.
You may be frustrated by the commercial cleaning agents that promise so much but offer very little by way of cleaning performance.
These products can also be hazardous to your health as they are full of chemicals that can be extremely dangerous to your health and wellbeing as a lot of these chemicals are carcinogenic in nature.
You can get to clean your toilet effectively using a combination of common and cost effective ingredients.
Here’s what you need.

Justice Onnoghen may not be Nigeria's substantive CJN - Fayose
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has raised the alarm over possibility of preventing Justice Walter Nkanu Onnoghen from becoming the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), saying his appointment as Acting CJN was “either a grand plot to deprive him of his well-deserved appointment as CJN because he is from the South-South region or those cabals in the Aso Rock Presidential Villa want to hold him in the jugular, using his confirmation as substantive CJN to get him to assist them to pervert justice.”

Donald Trump snubs Buhari, calls other world leaders
The US president-elect, Donald Trump, has snubbed President Muhammadu Buhari by calling 10 leaders of other countries within 24 hours of his victory without putting a call to Nigeria.
Trump also sparked suggestions that he may side-line the United Kingdom in his policies after he called 9 world leaders before extending a call to the British Prime Minister Theresa May. The decision to call the prime minister of Ireland ahead of Mrs May prompted questions about the health of the ‘special relationship’ between the UK and the US following Trump’s victory. But some fear the new president does not view the UK’s interests as a priority. See the list of world leaders Donald Trump has spoken to since he won the US presidential election.
1. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt
2. Prime Minister Enda Kenny of Ireland
3. President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico
4. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel
5. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey

Obama and Trump meet for 1st time at the White House (photos)
President Obama and president-elect Donald Trump met today at the White House and what an awkward scene it was. They spent 90minutes together, a meeting Donald Trump said he thought would last 10-15 minutes.
It was the very first time both men will meet each other, as Obama showed Trump, his wife Melania, Vice president elect Mike Pence, Mrs Pence and House Speaker Paul Ryan round the White House.
Both of them said good things about each other during the meeting with Obama saying he was "encouraged" by Mr Trump's willingness to work with his team, telling him:
"We want to do everything we can to help you succeed because if you succeed the country succeeds" while Trump called Obama a 'good man'
The more cordial and friendly tone adopted by the two men towards each other was in sharp contrast to the bitter spats that characterized the election campaign.See more photo after the cut...

AirForce issues no-fly zone over Trump Towers as massive security springs up at Trump's home following election victory (photos)
After Pro-Hillary protests sprung up last night in New York, the White House and different parts of America following Donald Trump's victory at the U.S elections, members of the New York Police Department's Counterterrorism Bureau have arrived at Donald Trump's home- Trump Towers, to ensure massive security for America's next president.
With about two months before Trump assumes duties as president and moves into the White House, the American air-force has issued a no-fly zone over Trump towers, concrete barriers have been installed around Trump towers while a row of sanitation trucks filled with sand have been acting as barricades along his Fifth Avenue street in Manhattan, New York while people who work and live inside the 58 storey building will now be vetted by the Secret Service. More photos after the cut.
Additional report from TMZ below...
Donald Trump is getting a massive security blanket, courtesy of the FAA ... so the NYC building where he lives and works does not fall victim to terrorists flying airplanes.
Pilots have been ordered to stay clear of the 68-story building on 5th Ave. The FAA has deemed a 2-nautical mile radius a protected area.
We're told the FAA imposed the restriction almost immediately after Trump was declared the winner. No doubt the tragedy down the road on Sept. 11, 2001 weighed in on the FAA's decision. The restrictions apply until January 21, 2017, the day after Inauguration.
Same goes for Veep Mike Pence's home in Indiana ... there's now a 1-nautical mile radius airspace restriction.
And something else is in play. Trump has his own Boeing 757 ... something out of financial reach of most President-elects. The FAA and Secret Service are managing restrictions for Trump's plane during takeoff, flight and landing ... but the restrictions are secret. See more photo after the cut...
